Located in the heart of Sri Lanka's cultural triangle, Dambulla is world-renowned for its magnificent Cave Temple complex. Dating back to the 1st century BC, it is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in the country and a designated UNESCO World Heritage site.
The complex consists of five separate caverns carved into a massive granite outcrop. Inside, visitors will find over 150 stunning statues of Lord Buddha - including a colossal 14-metre reclining Buddha - as well as intricate murals covering the cave ceilings and walls that depict the life of the Buddha and ancient Sinhalese history.
